Project Type: Design & Planning
A little slice of New England in Buckinghamshire.
A full Design & Planning project for Back to Front, we worked with the existing building to update and renovate the tired facades. The original roof was covered in timber shingles and suffered from multiple holes exposing the family to many leaks within, whilst the shingle cladding was well past its lifespan. The canopy porch over the garage door made turning and parking on the limited driveway a challenge and the front area needed attention to make the entrance area a welcoming feature.
While a simple update on the face of it, the design required careful attention to the detailing of the porch area, balcony, drainage and garage, along with the application of appropriately detailed materials to ensure this lovely 1920’s building was sensitively bought back to life.
Having created a more welcoming facade to the house, we then reconfigured the interior layout of the ground floor to create a spacious entrance hall enjoying views through to the garden along with a better function and flow for the media room and kitchen / dining area.
To the exterior, render and cladding in a soft grey palette, a new slate roof and contrasting rainwater goods, has given this family home a new lease of life, complemented beautifully by the client’s soft landscaping.
