Project Type: Design Consultancy & Window Detailing

When our clients got in touch, they had been settling into life in their new home for the past two years. They had purchased a lovely cottage set in an idyllic, countryside location, however, over the years some of the character of the house had been lost as previous owners introduced white uPVC windows, black plastic guttering, and dark staining on the original wooden beams.

Keen to reinstate that lost charm, our clients came to us looking for assistance with window and door design and detailing, and recommendations for ways to improve the exterior look.

Working sympathetically with the age and design of the original house, we detailed bronze casement windows for the front elevation of the property, with complementary timber flush casements and French doors to the other elevations.

The wooden beams were professionally cleaned, removing years of staining and dirt, to reveal beams with a much softer, original finish. The existing plastic guttering was replaced with an aluminium alternative, and neutral Farrow & Ball colours were introduced to the exterior, complementing its new softer look, with the windows, doors, guttering and balcony all painted to match.

The finished look has been elevated by the client’s striking landscaping scheme and we’re delighted to have been able to help bring this house back to its roots for our clients to love and enjoy for many years to come.
